Case study: As part of the Thames Tideway monitoring works Select has been responsible for developing innovative monitoring solutions for Iconic structure such as Tower Bridge, and 15 Thames crossing tunnels.

Select Monitoring has developed a specialist capability in undertaking and processing high-definition 3D laser scans to meet different uses on site. As-built surveys can be conducted to produce heat maps to identify any changes in a location. Within tunnels, 3D scanners combined with track trolleys provide 3D scans of tunnel profiles. The dimensions provide accurate data useful to plan installation and clearances for fit out.

With a specialist team to undertake noise, dust and vibration monitoring to meet planning requirements. Advice and assistance can be provided to assist in submission of Section 61’s and for negotiating acceptable limits for sensitive surrounding structures. Select has experience operating near Museums and Data Centres where severe vibration limits can be imposed. Select can draw on a large real-life library of data collected from the Plant Hire fleet of equipment.

Select has established an integrated contaminated land and groundwater testing capability which combines both on site, and in situ testing using Handheld XRF for Heavy Metal detection, Photo-Ionisation for volatile hydrocarbons and multi-parameter water testing. This capability can also be combined with the main business’s material testing capability including Plate and CBR testing, DCP, LWD and NDG

In combination with the Engineering Surveying expertise, Select also operates a small unmanned aircraft fleet including the Matrice 300 and Mavic M3E with the latest sensors and infra-red imaging capability. Select operate under a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Operation Safety Case for extended line of sight allowing up to 4km to be flown in a single flight. Select is able to produce Orthophoto’s, digital terrain models, point clouds, and 4k video. Select is also able to combine point cloud data with 3D Digital Models using its online portal to visualise and share data.
