Select Plant Hire has been appointed by all the main contractor partnerships across HS2 to provide services, including modular accommodation.
Over 600 units have already been delivered and installed by Select across the network, following an initial order of 400 units by the Align* joint venture. The EFKB* partnership recently placed an order adding to the existing contracts for LMJV and BBV*.
The units which offer quality accommodation can be designed and configured to suit the needs of varying project sizes. Their flexibility also allows them to be re-configured and re-located as the project progresses. With growing requirements for sustainable solutions, the accommodation offers project teams a comfortable, clean working environment that brings head office to the project site offices.
Select’s depth of experience in logistics has been drawn upon by the main contractor teams who have utilised their in-house lifting for installation of the units, and site-wide services expertise for electrical and plumbing set up.
Alex Warrington, Select’s Business Unit Leader said:
“The dramatic increase in orders emphasises the confidence that our clients have in our turnkey solution for sites that require quality, sustainable and flexible modular accommodation. In order to meet the demand we have had to double our workforce at our Wincham depot to 90 people. With 40 new people joining over the last 18 months, eight of whom are apprentices. This contributed to Select being awarded ‘Apprentice Employer of the Year’ by Trafford College in February.
“It has been a credit to the team in the depot for producing such fantastic work especially through these unprecedented times. The HS2 project has opened up a number of other opportunities in the market for our modular units.”
With current joint venture entity relationships continuing to go from strength to strength, Select is now engaging with additional tier 1 contractors and looking at ways to push the boundaries on product development.
