Case Study
Deliver lifting equipment that led with sustainability in mind, on a site with limited power and space availability.
At Select, we are committed to driving industry change and investing in greener solutions for our clients. This is particularly evident in our crawler crane division. We have purchased six LR1160.1 and one LR1250.1 battery-powered crawlers since 2019 and have the largest electric crawler fleet in the industry.
Our expert lifting teams offer consultancy to all clients to ensure optimal results and efficiency on-site. When SPI Piling approached Select looking for diesel-powered cranes for piling work at Wood Wharf, a new mixed-use development at Canary Wharf, they had a stipulation from Canary Wharf Contractors that required plant with a minimum of tier 4 engines. Our team knew our battery-powered crawlers would be the perfect solution for the job.
With sustainability at the heart of this project, the clients were delighted at the prospect of reducing carbon emissions on-site. To ensure there were no stumbling blocks with the power supply to the crane. Select worked collaboratively to install a sufficient power supply to site to accommodate the energy demand with two power points installed 100 metres apart to provide the coverage needed.
After 10 weeks of the first battery-powered crawler on-site, the clients requested an additional LR1160.1 to complete their scope of work.
