Boasting one of the largest, most versatile, and highest specification piling fleets in the UK, Select is proud to introduce the world's largest capacity battery powered drilling rig, the Liebherr LB30 unplugged, which joined the fleet in August 2022.
Select’s piling operations offer the most technical and fuel-efficient equipment by sourcing the world’s leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). Our technically knowledgeable and highly experienced team, with our main depot based in Grimsby, has supported, delivered, and maintained some of the UK’s most complex piling projects. In commissioning our nationwide complete piling solution, your project will benefit from fabrication capabilities, field service engineers, tooling, casing, and piling ancillary requirements.
Select provides a complete concrete delivery solutions service, offering a range of mobile concrete pumps, static concrete pumps and concrete placing booms.
Engaging with Select at the earliest stage of your project will ensure the right equipment is provided to you for your sites specific need.
We can supply concrete wash out systems as well as provide all your pumping pipelines to meet your project needs.
Select has a range of mobile concrete pumps ranging from boom sizes of between 24 and 43 metres, to ensure that a suitable solution is available for each job. We also work alongside supply chain partners to cater for additional needs.
To suit projects pumping high-rise and long-distance pours, Select has a fleet of static pumps ranging from the Schwing 750 to the Schwing 2800. We have recently purchased an electric 2800 static pump.
When the reach and options with truck-mounted concrete pumps are insufficient, stationary booms or mechanical distributors can enable efficient concrete placement. Used together with stationary or truck-mounted pumps, they provide high performance and practical solutions – reducing the time required for placing concrete and increasing productivity.
Select specialise in providing automated wireless solutions for instrumentation, irrespective of the location or access. We have extensive experience with the following:
- Shape Arrays
- Wireless tilt and disto systems
- Tilt arrays
- Fibre optic strain gauges
- Hydraulic Levelling Cells
- Building Load monitoring
As part of the Thames Tideway monitoring works Select have been responsible for developing innovative monitoring solutions for Iconic structure such as Tower Bridge, and 15 Thames crossing tunnels.
Select can call upon a wide range of expertise in undertaking both manual and automate surveying works. This includes the establishment of Primary and Secondary control networks, on site surveying works as well as standard manual geodetic monitoring. Select also have the experience to establish automated total station networks. Select also have a track survey team qualified to access Network Rail, London Underground and Dockland Light Railway.
Select Monitoring has developed a specialist capability in undertaking and processing high definition 3D laser scans to meet for different uses on site. As-built surveys can be conducted to produce heat maps to identify any changes in a location. Within tunnels, 3D scanners combined with track trolleys to provide 3D scans of tunnel profiles. The dimensions provide accurate data useful to plan installation and clearances for fit out.
With a specialist team to undertake noise, dust and vibration monitoring to meet planning requirements. Advice and assistance can be provided to assist in submission of Section 61’s and for negotiating acceptable limits for sensitive surrounding structures. Select has experience of operating near Museums and Data Centres where severe vibration limits can be imposed. Select can draw on a large real-life library of data collected from the Plant Hire fleet of equipment.
We have established an integrated contaminated land and groundwater testing capability which combines both on site, in situ testing using Handheld XRF for Heavy Metal detection, Photo-Ionisation for volatile hydrocarbons and multi-parameter water testing. This capability can also be combined with the main businesses material testing capability including Plate and CBR testing, DCP, LWD and NDG
In combination with the Engineering Surveying expertise, Select also operate a drone fleet including the DJI Phantom 4 and Matrice 300 with the latest P1 sensor as well as infra-red imaging capability. Select operate under a CAA Operation Safety Case for extended line of sight allowing up to 4km to be flown in a single flight. Select are able to produce Orthophoto’s, digital terrain models, point clouds and 4k video. Select are also able to combine point cloud data with Revit Digital Models and using its online portal to visualise and share data.

Monitoring structures and infrastructure as they are under construction is becoming an increasingly important requirement and our highly specialised team has the expertise and instrumentation to service the country’s most complex projects.
Select Engineering Surveying & Monitoring was established over 10 years ago to provide specialist services. Over this time, we have worked on some of the largest construction projects in the UK; Elizabeth Line, Everton, Hinkley Point C, and Thames Tideway.
Our teams engage with clients at the earliest opportunity, designing and developing the best solutions, using the most effective engineering surveying and monitoring technology for any given project.
Having developed a multi-disciplinary approach to provide integrated solutions covering a range of services including ground movement monitoring and engineering surveying. The options can be seen in the menu above.
In addition, we have developed an innovative visualisation platform which utilises AI
and machine learning to identify trends and allow sophisticated change analysis to be carried out. Bringing innovation to our products and services remains at the forefront of our mind.
Whatever the size of the project, Select will work with you to ensure the right solution is provided.
Select has a strategic partnership offering FHOSS products.
Inspired by the saying “where there’s light, there’s life”, FHOSS, produces a range of high performance, illuminated safety wear and technologies. FHOSS, a UK based company provide next generation personal protection equipment designed to improve worker visibility, reduce accidents and make working environments safer.
The illuminated livery is a new addition to some assets in our fleet and this improves safety via increased visibility. The illuminated livery can be any design and installed on almost any items of plant.
